Merrill Scholars Honor Mentors At Annual Luncheon

Nearly 50 graduating Merrill Scholars gathered on May 20 at Willard Straight Hall to celebrate mentors who helped shape their academic journeys. The 37th annual Merrill Presidential Scholars luncheon honored high school teachers or mentors who made a significant impact on the students' early education and Cornell faculty or staff members who played a key role during their college years.

The Merrill Scholars, who are chosen by the deans from Cornell’s 10 undergraduate colleges and schools, are recognized for their strong academic performance, leadership, and commitment to making a positive impact in the world. The event acknowledged mentors from 15 U.S. states as well as China, Nigeria, France, and Canada. Those honored included 11 math teachers, seven history teachers, two principals, three guidance counselors, and one personal mentor.
