Cornell Honors Tata with Inaugural Distinguished Alumni Award

Cornell University held an event on April 16 at Milstein Hall Auditorium where faculty, staff, students, and invited guests gathered to witness the presentation of the inaugural Ratan N. Tata Distinguished Alumni Award. The award, established by Cornell's College of Architecture, Art, and Planning, honors Tata's global influence and his lifelong philanthropic commitment to education, research, health, and the built environment.

Named in honor of Tata, who graduated from Cornell in 1959 and received a B.Arch. in 1962, the award was established before his passing in 2024. A cherrywood model, with its base engraved by first-year architecture student Blake Zimmerman (B.Arch. '29), accompanies the award. The award was presented posthumously to Tata, and Natarajan Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, accepted it on his behalf.
