Tompkins County ends medication drop-off June 22, 2026
The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office said it will no longer accept unused or unwanted medications after June 22, 2026.
After that date, residents should use participating pharmacies and healthcare facilities for medication disposal. The Sheriff’s Office said it will continue to participate in federal drug takeback programs during the spring and fall for the Drug Enforcement Administration National Prescription Drug Take Back events.
The Sheriff’s Office said the change is due to circumstances beyond its control and apologized for the short notice.
Local medication drop-off locations listed by the Sheriff’s Office include:
- Tops Pharmacy, 2300 N. Triphammer Rd., Ithaca, NY 14850
- Kinney Drugs, 2255 N. Triphammer Rd., Ithaca, NY 14850
- Kinney Drugs, 44 North St., Dryden, NY 13053
- Kinney Drugs, 2100 Trumansburg Rd., Trumansburg, NY 14886
